How to export Site Finder results

Site Finder helps you search for and identify potential development or investment sites based on location, planning, and property criteria. You can export your Site Finder results as CSV, XLS, or KML (Points or Polygons) directly from the map view.

Step 1: Open Site Finder

1. In map view, hover over the layers menu on the left-hand side and click on Site Finder to open the side panel.

Step 2: Filter Your Search

In the Site Finder side panel, click on any section to expand it and reveal its available filter options. You can filter your search by:

    Location

    Size and Dimensions

    Shape & Geometry

    Topography

    Planning Zones and Overlays

Apply as many filters as needed to refine your results. The panel will display the total number of matching sites (for example, "2,438 sites found") so you can see how your filters are affecting the results in real time.

Important: Exports are limited to a maximum of 1,000 sites. If your search returns more than 1,000 results, apply additional filters to narrow down your results to 1,000 or fewer before exporting. To start over, click the Reset button to clear all applied filters.

Step 3: Export Your Results

Once you have completed your Site Finder search, export your results by clicking the three-dot menu (⋮) beside the Save To button.

From there, select your preferred export format:

CSV – comma-separated values, compatible with most spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

    XLS – Microsoft Excel format

KML (Points) – exports each result as a point location, compatible with mapping tools like Google Earth

KML (Polygons) – exports each result as an area boundary, compatible with mapping tools like Google Earth

Note: If your search returns more than 1,000 sites, the export will only include the first 1,000 results. Narrow your filters before exporting to make sure you capture the most relevant sites within the limit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between KML (Points) and KML (Polygons)?

KML (Points) exports each site as a single point location (a pin on the map), while KML (Polygons) exports each site as a boundary shape representing the full area of the site. Use KML (Points) for a simple overview of site locations, and KML (Polygons) to visualise the actual boundaries of each site.

Can I reset my filters in Site Finder?

Yes, you can reset your filters in Site Finder at any time by clicking the Reset button in the side panel. This will clear all applied filters and return the search to its default state.

How many sites can I export from Site Finder?

Exports from Site Finder are limited to a maximum of 1,000 sites. If your search returns more than 1,000 results, you will need to apply additional filters to reduce the result count to 1,000 or fewer before exporting. The side panel displays the total number of matching sites in real time so you can track your result count as you adjust your filters.

What should I do if my export is not working?

If your export is not completing or appears to have stalled, try the following steps:

Check that your search returns 1,000 sites or fewer, as exports are limited to a maximum of 1,000 sites.

Narrow your search using additional filters to reduce the number of results if needed.

Click the three-dot menu (⋮) beside the Save To button again and retry the export.
