How to view flood, landslide and bushfire source authorities

Landchecker shows potential hazards that may affect a property, including flood, bushfire and landslide risks. This information helps you make informed decisions and identify properties that may need additional due diligence.

What Hazards Can You See?

You can visualise potential hazard areas directly on the map by activating the relevant hazard layers from the Planning Layers menu on the left-hand side.

When you select a property, the Property Information Panel on the right displays a detailed summary of any applicable hazards. Landchecker currently displays three types of hazards:

Flood – areas identified as flood-prone by state, council or ICEYE

Bushfire – areas within designated bushfire zones or high-risk regions

Landslide – areas identified as having landslide risk

How To View Detailed Hazard Information

1. Use the address search bar at the top of the map to find your property. You can search by:

    Complete street address

    Coordinates

    Lot/plan details

2. Once you've selected your property, the info tab will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.

3. Scroll down through the property information panel to view the hazard section. Each hazard will show one of three statuses:

Affected – We have coverage for this area and the hazard zone intersects with the property. This means the property falls within the designated hazard area.

Unaffected – We have coverage for this area but the hazard zone doesn't intersect with the property. The property is outside the designated hazard area.

No Coverage – We don't currently have hazard data available for this location.

4. Click on any hazard type to see more details in a pop-up window. This shows you:

Source Authority – the authority responsible for flood management in the area

Status – how the hazard affects this specific property

Type – whether the data comes from state government or local council

Last Updated – when the data was last refreshed

Flood Data Sources

For flood hazards, you'll see whether the information comes from:

State Government – state-level flood mapping and planning overlays

Local Council – council-specific flood studies and planning controls

ICEYE Flood - delivers flood extent and depth data with up to 30cm accuracy
